The Jimmyriggers: Versatile roots-rock

So I have been playing alot of country music lately (http://thejimmyriggers.com, http://marshallcountry.com ) as well as revisiting my vinyl collection in an attempt to escape the onslaught of auto tune, bad lyrics, and unimaginative song concepts, that pours from the airwaves out of buildings and cars and into the streets.
As a result I have been reminded of some great acts and exposed to a new one. I’m not going to get wordy even though blogs are supposed to be wordy.
The first is to send you over to check out Starvin Hungry which is a re-release by brothers Glenn and John Milchem. They were The Black Keys and White Stripes before anyone thought a duo of drums and guitar could kick some serious ass.
The second is a great video of my latest favourite country band, The Blue Shadows. Hailed as “the band that scared Nashville” and boy did Nashville have something to be scared of. If a band from a town like Vancouver can produce a sound like this then who knows what else there could be.
