Exclaim! streams upcoming Dany Laj and The Looks album ‘Word On The Street’
“Montreal-based pop-rockin’ unit Dany Laj and the Looks are set to unveiled their latest LP Word on the Street next week, but Exclaim! is streaming it in its entirety a week early”.
Last summer I had the pleasure to record an album while playing in Dany Laj and The Looks. We headed to Toronto to lay down a great batch of new and old tunes that best represented the band. It was a great couple of days that were some of the best ones that I’ve had in or out of a studio.
My great thanks to all that were involved and you better check this album out!!! Its a killer batch of tracks!

When Montreal’s Dany Laj and the Looks saw a real estate listing for a real, live castle for sale in Moncton, New Brunswick, they knew they had to seize the opportunity to see the thing for themselves – and what better occasion to plan their triumphant return to the Maritimes around? Yes, folks, Dany Laj and the Looks are happy to announce that they will be bringing their own memorable brand of ’70s/British-influenced rock’n’roll to East Coast Canada once again. Dany Laj has been tirelessly driving back and forth across Canada with his faithful band, The Looks, at his side. Together Laj, bassist Jeanette Dowling, and drummer Lewis Handford, have been winning over Canadian audiences with infectious power-pop melodies and catchy hooks. In the studio for upcoming record. . . .
Hey all!
The last couple days have been full with time in the studio recording the upcoming album by Dany Laj and The Looks.
I laid all my drum tracks yesterday so my jobs done! Time to sit back and enjoy the rest of the album process.
I used my vintage Stewart drums for that great old sound, my 1970’s Ludwig Supersensitive snare, and my awesome MCD 5.5X14 solid shell curly hickory in custom black/cherry burst with chrome beavertail lugs (big shout out to Nick and Mike at MCD Drums). For cymbals I used my 1950’s zildjians, 20″ Constantinople ride, and my awesome Dream cymbals(20″ crash ride and 16″ crash). The only instruments I need.
We are in a great studio in Toronto in the Bloor and Lansdowne area. So far the studio remains unnamed but I’m suggesting they call it Parachute Studios for the fact that as I write this, I’m sitting below an old military parachute in the control room.
The best part of this whole process? We get to lay it all down to tape!! Pretty much the best way to record drums.
I’ll keep everyone updated as I go and bring all the news as it happens as usual.
